NEC: O3

From Devwiki

Jump to: navigation, search

NEC is the world's second largest manufacturer of semiconductors, with plants spread around the world. The "O3" project was our first direct project with NEC. However, NEC was the largest reseller of Sun SPARC workstations in Japan, so Objectivity/DB was known to them via the Sun marketing channel. The sale was made by Mitsui and support is done by OGIS.

NEC decided to overhaul its Wafer Fabrication Control plants in the late 1990s to allow them to introduce higher precision equipment. The project and new system architecture was named "O3".

[edit] Project Description

"O3" is a highly advanced computer integrated manufacturing system. It drives the production lines in the wafer fabrication plants and sends summary information to enterprise business systems.
