[edit] The Project/Product

[edit] Project Background

[edit] Project/Product Description

THREADS is a software prototype based on a proven analytical methodology that is intended to help Counter Terrorist and Force Protection analysts corroborate HUMINT reporting of threats. It does this by fusing National Systems generated data. It helps orchestrate a multi-discipline reaction against those threats, generating Actionable Intelligence that can be used to defeat the planned terrorist or other foe's actions.

  • Flexibility.
  • Reliability.
  • Ease of development and maintenance.

[edit] Competitors/Alternatives

  • The customer asked for a multi-user architecture study that also examined the use of a major RDBMS (Oracle) instead of Objectivity. The performance study resulted in:
    • Development of a representative test case and typical THREADS queries that were executed on both DBMSs.
    • An evaluation of configuration strategies, to optimize performance.
    • Comparison of query results for the two types of DBMS.
  • The Objectivity/DB worst case results were better than the RDBMS best case results across the board.
  • In the most complex tests Objectivity/DB was up to 30x faster than the RDBMS.

[edit] Why They Chose Objectivity

  • Objectivity/DB met the technical criteria and convincingly outperformed the RDBMS.
  • Flexible licensing.
