Mum gained an Associate Degree at De Anza College

Dad lived at Associated Electrical Engineering's (AEI's) student dormitory, Coton House, established by British Thompson Houson (BTH), Rugby, whilst between school and university:
- The 3 months there and 9 months at AEI Electronics, New Parks and AEI RADAR, Blackbird Road in Leicester were counted as the first year of a "Sandwich Course".
- The first professional work year after university qualified him as a Chartered Engineer (C.Eng.) after acceptance by the Institution of Electrical Engineeers (IEE).
