Dad's Career
- Dad's first job after graduation was at Time Sharing Limited.
- Dad moved to International Computers Limited (ICL) in Bracknell in 1972.
in the UK. He was Design and Development Manager of ICL 2900
IDMS in the early Seventies before moving to the ICL Dataskil Project Management Sector in Reading as a Program Director.
- We moved to California in 1983 when Dad joined a former colleague and others to start Automation Technology Products.
They built a product named CIMPLEX, an innovative Computer Integrated Manufacturing system based on solid modeling. Dad ran the database team, which produced an
advanced engineering database called ATPID.
- Dad moved to Objectivity, Inc. in 1988, one of the earliest Object Database Management System providers. He was
a founder and lead the Object and Storage Manager Team before becoming the Director, System Engineering then Chief Technology Officer.
Early Computers
- Dad had his first encounter with a computer in 1961 on a school trip to a local aircraft design office (Saunders-Roe).
It was a Ferranti Pegasus.
- He built an analog computer for a school project in 1963.
- He also worked on these Early Computers.
