Commander Wojciech Francki on the bridge of the ORP Błyskawica, wearing a duffel coat.
He commanded the ORP Blyskawic from September, 1940 to March, 1942 and again from November, 1945 to May, 1946.
His actions on the night of 4–5 May 1942, when the ORP Błyskawica was credited with saving Cowes, led to his third Krzyż Walecznych (the Polish Cross of Valour) and a DSM (Distinguished Service Medal) from King George VI.
